Quantcast

During his short musical career, Barnaby ‘Baterz’ Ward (RIP 1969 – 2002) captured the heart of audiences and artists fortunate enough to cross his path.

In 2007, Robin, Martin and Juliet Ward (his parents and sister) and Guillaume Vétu (a close friend) created Fizzygo Records, with the close involvement and support of Jesse (Baterz’ life partner).

Fizzygo Records’ first project is a triple CD ‘Great Big Squiddy Fun – A Baterz Tribute’, which includes thirty three tribute tracks from Baterz’ friends and fond acquaintances (on two CDs) especially recorded for this compilation, and ‘Baterz for Beginners’, a sixteen track compilation of Baterz’ original music.

With contributions from James Cruickshank and Tex Perkins, Deborah Conway and Willy Zygier, The Blow Waves, Mal Webb and Totally Gourgeous, Mikelangelo, 3kShort (from Machine Gun Fellatio) … only to name a few, this is truly a “Classic Australian Album” (Don Bartley – Benchmark Mastering / 301).

Release date to be announced soon.
Performed by the Blow Waves.
Written by Barnaby “Baterz” Ward.
Mastered by Don Bartley at Benchmark Mastering.

On the road

The Blow Waves hit the road in November 2008 with their “looking for love… in all the wrong places” tour…

The boys brightened up the country side with their campery in Bendigo, alongside the Darts and the Red Cherries. Then it was off to Adelaide with gigs at Enigma, the Ed Castle and Feast Festival. Supported by the Kill Girls, Tyger Tyger and Radio Spectacular! And what an impression they made on the locals this time around.

Next the Blowies packed up their kit and headed off to deliver disaster relief in Queensland. Rain, hail or shine, the boys rocked out at QUT Guild Bar in Brisbane. Joining them on the bill were those Brissie sensations Christopher Robin and Elke – these guys have really something else going on.

Finally they wrapped it up on the Gold Coast with Christopher Robin and the Gallery Kiss at the Miami Shark Bar, before taking some much needed R&R in Noosa. Now there’s just enough time to swing by the recording studio before we do it all again next year. Super bad ass!
