Electric Zoo

// September 1st, 2011 // No Comments » // news

Electric Zoo is a fun new live music concept that was born in Sydney and came to Melbourne for the very first time in August 2011. A semi-regular event devoted to showcasing local, live and electronic music performances.

The Blow Waves headlined both the first Melbourne party and Electric Zoo 4 in Sydney, alongside some of the best of Australia’s live synth pop and experimental electronica, including their good friends The Blush Foundation and Garcon Garcon. Hotness!

Stay tuned for more cross-cultural-good-times coming soon to a capital city near you!

Circus! Circus! Brisbane

// June 26th, 2011 // No Comments » // news

Fri 24 JanThe Blow Waves took their Circus! Circus! party to The Zoo in June, for the Brisbane Pride Festival, and hosted a sideshow at the Loft on the Gold Coast.

All those Brisbane butchfreaks, boytreats, clownchubs, ringmasters, bearded hicks, organ grinders, she-freaks and sideshow Sallies swung-along to the deep, dirty grind of Silver Sircus, the disco-punk-power-pop of The Blow Waves and the glamrock burlesque spectacle of Bertie Page Clinic.

Oh what a weekend, we hope to see all our new Queensland friends again real soon!

Bikini Chain Gang

// January 16th, 2011 // No Comments » // news

Sat 15 JanAnother year and another big crowd slop-slap-slipped into the newly re-vamped Tote for the alternate midsummer installment following in the footsteps of Circus! Circus! and Hustler! Hustler!  This time Grease 2 met Rock Lobster as people donned fingerless gloves and zinc cream, fluoro and leather, chains and swimsuits, board shorts and biker boots - for the mondo trasho beach party of summer – Bikini Chain Gang.

The Blow Waves oiled up and tanned the stage, stepping out of the studio and into the UV with their famous live show showcasing some reworked favourites and new singles off their forthcoming album. Supported by the late night rock and roll beach shore swagger of Bullets in Berlins and the master of electronic hip hop clash splash – Melodiqa – plus shows by the Real Hot Bitches, busting moves to the hits from the 80’s like Hot Gossips’ bastard love children.

We certainly couldn’t Ken-Done the kind of behavior going on the dance floor that night! Thanks to all who came to bang with the Bikini Chain Gang – see you at the Tote next year.
