Sydney-siders were finally treated in their home town, as Hard On and the Oxford Hotel brought the Blow Waves back to the Mardi Gras official bar, the Supper Club. After touring Europe last year the Blow Waves have been in short supply, as they put the wheels in motion to record their debut album, they’ve only been let out briefly to play a handful of live gigs.
Presenting their fresh new repertoire of original tunes such as Love in England and Devil’s Playground; dirty synths, melodic harmonies, guitar driven riffs and penetrating hooks; all wrapped up in a tight, inspiring, and now world-famous live show.

After months of wrangling over liquor licencing, Melbourne’s home of live music for more than 20 years – the Tote – announced it was finally closing it’s doors forever. Following in the footsteps of the massive party they threw at the place last summer, the Blow Waves pulled together a fierce line up of punk, hip-hop, electro and disco, to do it one last time at this iconic venue.
The call went out to all man whores, skanky sluts, toy boys, pimp daddies, fierce madams, trick turning trannies and horny buggers – to get off that street corner, shut the brothels and spread their legs at Hustler! Hustler!
Featuring Shunda K – live and direct from the USA – the quick talking lyricist behind God-fearing, lady loving hip-hop juggernaut Yo! Majesty. After topping NME’s Cool List in the UK, Shunda K is was back on tour in Australia with Peaches for the Big Day Out, and made a b-line through the stage door at the Tote.
Sydney’s subsonic electro princesses – The Blush Foundation – brought their Designer Vagina’s back for another startling, Jane-Fonda-style aerobic workout.
To top it all off the Blow Waves bought their well travelled butts back to the hood after chasing the summer through Europe, and brought down the house with their now world famous brand of disco unfused punk; punchy, rocky and full of raw energy.
The night was a sell out which left punters and fans begging for more, it won’t be long ’till next time!

In the final episode of the Blow Waves tour video blog, the boys wrap things up with a gig at Manchester’s legendary Roadhouse, one last London show at the infamous Hope and Anchor in Islington, and then the big one, headlining the Sackville Gardens stage for Manchester Pride Opening Night. Rain, hail or shine, the show must go on!
