Immersed in dirty synths, melodic harmonies, guitar driven riffs and penetrating hooks, Bad Boy bandits The Blow Waves capture their raw stage performance and live reputation on their self-titled EP, ‘The Blow Waves’. Featuring four trade mark tracks – Attack of the Puppet People, Night Rider, Beginning of Love and Restless Robots – out now, available in limited edition CD or digital download.

On this EP: Attack of the Puppet People – inspired by 50s films / Batman & Robin / Witches of Eastwick. Are the youth losing their imagination and becoming clones of themselves? Night Rider – sex after 5pm, not being a daytime person, as the sun sets, it’s on. Beginning of Love – the sacrifice of a relationship for a song. Restless Robots – artificial intelligence, love, sex, and robots bumping uglies.

Produced by Kalju Tonuma with over 20 years experience working with artists from the Split Enz to the Living End The Blow Waves are Matt Doll: UFO and the TRUTH seeker, front man for the “campest band in the world”. Jamie Wave: axe slinger never short of Paw-Paw lip-gloss and fabulous sequined dresses. John Pants: bassist lurking mostly in the deep, darker fringes and pits. Jezz Beat: skin beater, rhythm maker, fresh bait. Byron St John: fierce glamour, success and synth technician.

From East Coast tours, the Opera House, Mardis Gras and pounding the live circuit The Blow Waves head to Europe in late July for more touring, gigs and festivals including Manchester Pride, London, Berlin and the World Out Games in Copenhagen.

The Morning After

// November 25th, 2008 // No Comments » // music

During his short musical career, Barnaby ‘Baterz’ Ward (RIP 1969 – 2002) captured the heart of audiences and artists fortunate enough to cross his path.

In 2007, Robin, Martin and Juliet Ward (his parents and sister) and Guillaume Vétu (a close friend) created Fizzygo Records, with the close involvement and support of Jesse (Baterz’ life partner).

Fizzygo Records’ first project is a triple CD ‘Great Big Squiddy Fun – A Baterz Tribute’, which includes thirty three tribute tracks from Baterz’ friends and fond acquaintances (on two CDs) especially recorded for this compilation, and ‘Baterz for Beginners’, a sixteen track compilation of Baterz’ original music.

With contributions from James Cruickshank and Tex Perkins, Deborah Conway and Willy Zygier, The Blow Waves, Mal Webb and Totally Gourgeous, Mikelangelo, 3kShort (from Machine Gun Fellatio) … only to name a few, this is truly a “Classic Australian Album” (Don Bartley – Benchmark Mastering / 301).

‘The Morning After’ written by Barnaby “Baterz” Ward and performed by the Blow Waves.
Mastered by Don Bartley at Benchmark Mastering.

Produced by legendary Oz music icon Brian Canham (Pseudo Echo), the Bitch gets done over by the creamiest of undieground remixers: including Melbourne disco wizz Phil Mezza and fellow Melb stud(io) clubber Greg Dickinson (Renee Geyer, Tina Cousins and other more illicit jobs); Greek DJ/producer/commando Tareq Souliman and Romanian DJ/producer Mihai Popoviciu (International Deejay Gigolo, Size Doesn’t Matter… you get the drift).
